Modem Thing

by bkovac · Hard · manifest draft — being verified

A pocket messaging device that combines an MF800 4G hotspot running Linux, a cut-down Clicks iPhone keyboard and a high-contrast SHARP Memory LCD.

bkovac built Modem Thing by combining three unused devices and designing a helper PCB and compact enclosure around them. The official repository publishes the enclosure, adapter-board files, kernel patches and the full build article.

Notes

Official README, build article, schematic and repository tree checked at source commit 29259d3 on 2026-10-24. Kept as draft because exact hotspot PCB revisions vary, the finished helper-PCB BOM is not published as a procurement table, and destructive case/PCB modifications require creator-specific fit checks.
